Justice League Watchtower computer console diorama: This started out as a simple nuetral backdrop to photograph my figures in front of, but quickly evolved into a more detailed environment. It's made completely of sheet styrene. The space scene in the window and the computer screen images are downloaded and docotored screen caps that I printed out and pasted on and are interchangable. The base for the chair is heavily modified from a Toy Biz Bat Cave chair donated by Casimir (the man the myth). The base of the chair is a radar dish from a Slave 1 model. All of the details such as panel lines and keyboards were carved into the plastic using a sharpened sculpting tool and the raised details are cut sheet and strip styrene. The entire piece was primed and airbrushed grey and the trim detail was painted by hand.
Overall I'm pretty happy with the turnout. I followed the model from the show very closely and I suppose I'm a little displeased with the way it translated into 3 dimensions. I think it lacks detail. It was a fun project, though. |
